About Us

The Miniature Horse Club Europe was originally founded in Belgium in 1999 by Ann de Weerdt and the club became the first AMHA approved club in Europe. In 2004 the Miniature Horse Club Europe was reorganized with more board members and better possibilities for a bigger club.

The Club's goal is to promote the knowledge about Miniature horses through organizing shows, events, competitions, clinics en educational seminars all over Europe for Miniature horse owners and/or enthusiasts.

Since 1997 MHCE has organized an annual championship show for Miniature horses in Oudenaerde, Belgium, on the occasion of the Paardenkijkdag in September.  As the number of participants and visitors has increased over the years and the show received more and more international attendance, expansion towards other European countries became desirable.

The first country outside Belgium where MHCE shows and events are being organized, is the Netherlands.  Here we find a considerable number of Miniature horse breeders and owners.  For next year we hope to add another European country.

We have noticed an increasing attendance of international participants in MHCE organized shows where European owners/breeders share the same vision. In recent years the quality of Miniature horses has substantially increased, as a result of strict breeding policies.

Europe boasts a number of good breeders and moreover a considerable number of Miniature horses have been imported from the USA, where the studbook, American Miniature Horse Association has existed for 25 years and has over 12.000 members with more than 146.000 registered Miniature horses.

What we offer:

MHCE gives their members the opportunity to gather around a common point of interest, whether it is showing, breeding, driving, jumping or purely companionship.
